Supreme Court Upholds Senate Redistricting Plan as Constitutional

In a unanimous decision today, the Oklahoma Supreme Court stated “State Senate Redistricting Act of 2011 complies with Section 9A, Article V, Oklahoma Constitution” and ended the lawsuit of Senator Jim Wilson (D-Tahlequah) against the Governor, legislative leaders and the Secretary of the State Election Board.  The Senate plan, which was adopted by an overwhelming bi-partisan vote in the Senate (38-6), was ruled to comply with the population mandates as set forth in the Oklahoma Constitution.
